Western Meadowlark.
My “Bird Nerd” badge in action here. We were driving down Mormon Row and I shouted out, “Western Meadowlark 3 posts up”. The chuckles and taunting started less than 1 post down the road, but the shutters started quickly there after. I also photographed a juvenile Western Meadowlark, of which I will post in a few days. Meadowlarks sing loud so capturing the lower mandible open is always a bonus. Yes, I wear that badge proudly.

Great Image David. The one question I have is that if your shooting at such a high shutter speed, the VC in the lens sorta becomes moot, does it not? Great work in the Tetons bro, I’m enjoying your posts.

You are correct. We had been in light that was much less in intensity so the VC was needed. We had seen several Meadowlarks on poles as we drove, when this one did not fly away, grabbing the correct exposure outweighed the turning off the VC. At that speed it isn’t going to negatively affect the shot so I was fine with it.
