What a year for Warblers!

This has been an exceptional year around my house for Warblers and photographing them. I’m not sure why, but I have some theories. First, we changed our garden design slightly here this year. We let the sunflowers grow in the main vegetable garden and the birds have reacted very positively about the food source. In addition we have let some flowering bushes grow and bloom which has attracted other insects, which attracts the birds. The weather has played into it a little as well, but I’m not sure how much the mild winter effected it. Lastly the large number of webworms in the trees last year resulted in a high number of moths, which is a food source for the Warblers. For that reason I am letting my webworm’s nest to remain in the trees to see how it does next year. I haven’t ever seen a Worm-eating Warbler until this year, but now I have a pair that nested behind the house and I in turn have captured some great images of them. I will have to go through my notes and at some point after the fall migration list out all the warblers I have seen and photographed.
