Scarlet Tanager – non-breeding male

Scarlet Tanager – non-breeding Male.
Life isn’t always fair. The male Scarlet Tanager is a perfect example. When it arrives in the spring it is an incredible red color with black wings. Probably one of the most striking birds we have here. While most all the other birds have dull and drab colors for winter, the male Scarlet Tanager is an incredible yellow and black. I hope one of these days to capture a nice tight shot of one in its red and black “attire” to show just how beautiful it is if you have never seen one.
