As a bird nerd, I have a list of birds that are “Crown Jewels” on my list to hear, observe and if I am lucky, photograph. The first time I heard and saw a Cerulean Warbler was probably 15 years ago while birding on my road. I saw them a few times in the next couple years, but at least 10 years went by since my last encounter. When I heard one 2 days ago, I was very pleased, when it landed in my backyard, I hoped it would stay long enough for an image. I got a few images while it sat on the fence the other day, but yesterday it landed in the Crepe Myrtle bush and almost posed for me. They are incredibly beautiful birds as adults, but this juvenile male is every bit as nice with his green and blues. I had a great Warbler day in the backyard yesterday and will share a few more images in the next few days. I know, I am a total bird nerd. The fall migration of Warblers may be starting and I hope to capture some nice birds over the next few weeks and month or so. For now I can say I have placed another jewel in the Crown.
