Father of the Year and Maybe some Drama

Father of the Year and Maybe some Drama.

Without a doubt my male Eastern Bluebird has to be father of the year. He has been busy with the baby Bluebirds this year, feeding and teaching them about life. I haven’t seen Mom in a few days, but she could be just watching as Dad teaches a few of the juveniles how to care for the newest brood. You can see from the images the youngsters are in different stages of molting, one is from the first brood, the second juvenile is from the last brood. They along with a couple of their siblings have been helping Dad feed the youngsters still in the nestbox. When I last saw Mom she was beginning a molt and she may be up in the trees. Dad flies off with mealworms to the trees a couple times, so I am trying to hope for the best that she is safe in the trees and didn’t fall victim to something up here. It was really interesting to watch yesterday as 3 of the juvies lined up with mealworms waiting their turn to feed the babies. I love watching bird behavior like this and how the group has remained together mostly.

All the image information is the same with the exception of shutter speed and ISO, but I am not going list all those differences.
