Room with a View

Room with a view.

One image I have played with over the years has been to shoot through the window of Bud Ogle’s Cabin toward the structure behind it. I haven’t been able to find a composition I liked for several reasons…people inside the window, or people outside the window. The day Cecil and I scouted we had no one in the way, so I decided to make my image that day. I talk with photographers at Camera Clubs often and they keep talking about judges referring to “negative space”. Negative space is an area that is void of interest and a distraction to the subject. However a lot of judges refer to a dark area as negative space. In this image the dark area needs to be dark otherwise it would create a distraction for the viewer looking at the subject, the window and the structure.
