A Seed Eating Machine!

A Seed Eating Machine.

The Rose-breasted Grosbeaks are still here and they are helping the sunflower seed industry. 10 of them can eat the amount of seed that 25 Goldfinches can consume. I don’t mind though, it is just great to see and hear them outside. They are just one of those things I look forward to each spring and help me to gauge how far along we are in the season each year. I like seeing the juvenile males that come through a couple days after the adults, unlike this adult they will have some of their juvenile feathers and look really interesting with the mix. The Grosbeaks tend to move slower which allows me to use a slower shutter speed and ISO for better quality in the image.
