The Nanny and Fog

The Nanny and Fog.

It hasn’t been too sunny up here in Bear Woods most of the time it has been pretty foggy. As a matter of fact, we had snow last night! The other day after my post I checked to see what was in the nestbox since Mom and Dad were exhibiting behavior that eggs were present. Well, there were 2 eggs in the box the other day, which makes one of my theories go by the wayside. I thought once eggs were laid, maybe then, they would run off the Nanny. Didn’t happened and with the snow last night and the cold the past day or so, Mom has been staying in the nestbox. She will come out for food, and Dad takes her some worms as well. The Nanny seems to be going no closer than the feeders, which is about 20 feet from the nestbox. I keep trying to get a view to see if she has developed a “brood patch”. I will keep observing and it will be interesting to see what happens in a couple weeks when the eggs will hatch.

  1. We had snow on Sunday after 2 weeks of 60 and 70 degree temperatures and trees and flowers starting to bloom. You have to love this crazy weather.
