When the Lighting is Just Right

When the lighting is just right…
Here in Bear Woods, as in much of the southeast, we are getting some much needed rain. Beyond the benefit of the wet stuff is the cloudy conditions. We had a light cloud cover for a couple hours yesterday and it seemed to be what the birds were waiting for to come feed in the backyard. As the rains slowed down I put sunflower seeds and mealworms out hoping for lots of action. My Bluebirds came in and fed, but my resident Eastern Phoebe flew in first and had a meal. I love the muted colors on the Phoebe, and there isn’t better lighting to capture the details of the bird than bright overcast. The icing on the cake for me was the catch light at the top of the eye.
