Northern Pintail

Northern Pintail.

I pack up this morning after one last sunrise here in Bosque del Apache. It has been beautiful here and has helped distract me from losing Bailey this week. It will be tough for a while when I arrive back at Bear Woods not having a wet nose welcome me for the first time in over 11 years. Fortunately though, there are lots of memories there of my girls.

The Sandhill Cranes are the stars of the show for the Festival of the Cranes, but there are lots of other birds here as well that are great to watch and photograph. Last night at sunset we were treated with photographing some Northern Pintail Ducks at the Flight Deck. Such beautiful birds, in such incredible light.
