The Babysitter part 2

The Babysitter part 2.

Yesterday was another interesting day in the world of natural history for me. I continued to watch and photograph the juveniles feeding the nestlings. The highlight came at about 6:25 yesterday evening when one of the juveniles fed one of the babies and then the baby fledged with the juvenile escorting it to the nearby tree. Only some of the babies fledged and it is still happening this morning so I am going to go sit and watch and photograph.

  1. This has to be so exciting. I’d love to witness nature like this. The natural world is amazing.

It is! I watched and photographed as the last of the six left the nest. I got some really bad shots of one taking flight. I may share it anyway. Then I got a few shots of the new kids in branches and one on a stove. It did finally make the flight up to the tree where everyone waited. The juvenile was right there cheering on it’s siblings the whole time!

  2. Oh, please post. My bird shots are awful, but I still try. :). I need to get a 600mm, or 400mm, lens. That would have to be much better than my 200mm even though the distance isn’t that great between my porch and the feeders.
