I just wanted to take a nap.

While we were on our workshop in Cades Cove on Friday we were treated to a bear snacking on new leaves in a tree, then taking a nap. It was raining a bit but we all stayed out there. We were rewarded when we had another bear feeding and approaching from the side that decided this area just wasn’t big enough for the both of them. The second bear climbed the tree where our first bear was napping and well it got ugly. The second bear charged the first bear on a branch that was cracking and ready to snap. The first bear just wanted to get down at this point and not simply relying on gravity to do so. It actually answered a question that has plagued us for years…yes bears do poop in the woods. Finally bear two went down the tree and bear one followed in a few minutes, only to be chased into the woods by bear two. What an awesome experience!
