What’s the scoop on poop, Part 2.

So I kind of changed the name to scoop on poop, it has more of a ring to it, don’t you think? So we talked about the fascination of photographers and birds of prey launching their poop over the side of the nest, but then I got lots of comments and messages about how song birds carry the poop sacs of the babies out of the nest. They even posted images of it, not to mention the one pic of the bear pooping. I keep thinking of the Garth Brooks song “I got friends in low places”…. Well there is a reason song birds carry the poop sacs away. It keeps the nest box clean but it also helps to avoid attracting predators to the box. That is why they carry it off some distance before they drop it. Little did you know you would have an education in bird poop this week, not once, but twice.
