Yellow Slippers.
 
The Snowy Egret is easily recognized by it’s “yellow slippers”. I had the opportunity to watch and photograph how the Snowy Egret utilizes those “slippers” to hunt. It almost dances on top of the water using the feet to scare prey into revealing itself. When it does the bird quickly and efficiently snatches the fish and eats it. Often they are small minnows, so small that the photographer doesn’t realize he has captured several frames on different occasions where the bird has a fish in it’s mouth. I didn’t see the fish until I looked at the images on the computer, I admit it, reluctantly…
