When Life Gives you Lemons

When life gives you lemons
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? This morning I led a field workshop about photographing birds in flight. It was fairly dark when a lot of the cranes, geese and ducks took flight.I knew without shooting at ISO 100,000, there would be little to no chance of stopping the action. I decided that instead to use it to my advantage and create more of an “artsy” look by using a slower shutter speed and panning with the birds. This was a group of Northern Pintails that took off against backlit and against a brighter background.
Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC lens on a Nikon D-7200, Manual Mode, f8, ISO 1600, resulting in a shutter speed of 1/30th of a second, Sirui R4214X tripod and PH20 Gimbal head, Peak Design Slide, Lowepro Flipside 500AW photo backpack, processed in Lightroom CC.
