Vapor and Glow.

When I saw this image I immediately thought of the song “Highway to the Danger Zone”. I could just see Goose and Maverick chasing MIGs. Then I realized it has been 30 years since that movie came out. I would love to see some numbers as to how many young folks enlisted after that movie hoping to be the next Maverick or Ice.

In order to get this effect you need humidity and fast moving jets that are turning or climbing hard and fast. The glow from the engines is the icing on the cake for me. This was one of those shots I really wanted to walk away with from the air show. You can see how the plane has traveled through the heat signature of the engine vapor as well.
