The Launch Part 2.

When photographing birds launching or even flying, you pretty much hold down the shutter button and “pan” with the bird. This is just after the image yesterday of the bird starting the launch. I really like the talon in this shot. You can see how they resemble giant sharp fishing hooks! I am just amazed at how the birds can be such great hunters with the talons and tear apart meat with the beaks, but be very gentle in feeding the eaglettes.

Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens on a Nikon D-800, Aperture Priority, f8, +0 stops of exposure compensation, ISO 400, resulting in a shutter speed of 1/640th of a second, Vanguard tripod and Wimberley Gimbal head, processed in Lightroom 5.
