Titmouse Popsicle

Titmouse Popsicle.

The cold we are having is really rough on the birds too. I have made sure the feeders are full and even sprinkle a lot on the ground too. There were times yesterday we had at least 150 birds in and around the feeders. Some, like this Tufted Titmouse, had ice on their feathers. The rain was freezing to whatever it hit and I guess sometimes that was a bird.

Tamron SP 150-600mm Di VC USD lens on a Nikon D-800, Aperture Priority, f8, -.7 stops of exposure compensation, ISO 3200, resulting in a shutter speed of 1/200th of a second, Vanguard Abeo Plus tripod and Wimberley head, processed in Lightroom 5.

Poor little babies! It must really be hard to fly with ice on their feathers.

It seemed to be doing okay. I had a Pine Siskin that had a lot of ice on it. I was worried about how much actually, but it seemed to do okay. I saw it most of the morning.
