Do I have a favorite camera and lens?
Yes. Whatever I am shooting with at the time. I know that sounds like a lame answer but it is true. I have different combinations that are my favorites to do things. When I am shooting a wide range of subjects and have limited space to carry gear, it is either the Nikon D-800 and the Tamron 28-300mm Di VC PZD or the Canon 7D and the Tamron 16-300mm Di-II VC PZD Macro lens. Of course when I am shooting macro it is a Tamron Macro lens on either the D-800 or the Sony a7R. For landscapes I love using the Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD lens on the Sony a7R. I like the light weight of the body and the sharpness of the lens, and it is incredibly sharp. That combination yields me some fantastic resolution images.
Whatever system I am using, it is up to me though not to blow the composition and focus…right?
Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD lens on a Sony a7R, Aperture Priority, f11, 2 images blended together for exposure in Photoshop CC, Vanguard Alta Pro tripod and BBH-200 head, converted to BW using onOne BW, processed in Lightroom 5.

I know you’d probably never make a clear answer but if you had to choose between Canon and Nikon, based on your experience, which brand would you stick with and why?

Currently, I think that Canon has an edge with APS-C cameras, but Nikon for Full Frame. That is of course just my opinion. Sony to me though is the one to watch. Their technology just seems to be getting better and better at larger margins then the other guys.
