A time for thanks…

Today in the United States is Thanksgiving Day. A day where we should give thanks for all the things we have in our lives. Things like family, friends, seeing a sunset or sunrise, having a home, having a nice meal, making the most of what we have. Not everyone has what we have. My hat off to those who take time to help those who have less by feeding them today or making sure they have a roof over their head. I remember while in the Marines, my roommates and I would invite over all of our friends that couldn’t go home for the holiday and we would cook a turkey and ham. They could eat in the Mess Hall, but they should be with friends and we wanted share our home.

That being said, I really feel for those who work for these retailers that insist on being open on Thanksgiving. Is it so wrong to stay closed for one day for people to be with their families?

My sunset last night. Tamron 28-300mm Di VC PZD lens on a Nikon D-800, Aperture Priority, 7 frame HDR combined in Photomatix, Vanguard Alta Pro tripod and BBH-200 head, blended in Photoshop CC for the sky to look natural, processed in Lightroom 5.
